Get up early and avoid rush hour.
Besides the fact that watching the sunrise over the horizon of the Caribbean Sea has its charm… getting up early will also allow you to make the most out of the day! You can choose the most suitable time (when there are fewer people) to see the tourist attractions you want and even have time to stay longer if you choose to do so. For example, if you are going to visit one of the Mayan Ruins, we recommend you go early in the morning to avoid rush hour and the strong midday sun. If you visit a cenote do so in the morning (most of them open at 9am) since after 12pm they usually start to fill up with more people. Then in the afternoon, you will have enough time to relax and enjoy the city, your hotel, your vacation rental or the beach.
Be (more) patient.
Like any other tourist city during the high season, there will be a lot of people walking around… but on the other hand, there will also be more activities to enjoy and better weather.
Delays at airports, busy streets or people more irritable than usual are all typical during this time. Take a deep breath, be patient and don’t stress about unnecessary things; remember that you are on vacation in a paradise and the goal is to enjoy it and relax without anyone taking you out of your ommm zone. Be original with your schedule.
There are some tourist attractions that you can visit in a “different” way …. How about a video mapping show with a night tour of the Archaeological Site of Chichen Itza? Or visiting an adventure park at night? Xplor Park has its “Xplor by Night” version, very original and definitely a unique experience to do such an activity at night!

Choose the most appropriate means of transportation.
A car is an excellent option when visiting more distant places and wanting to be more independent with our time; but within the city, there are other ways to get around to avoid the stress of traffic and not waste time. Playa del Carmen and Tulum are very good places to move around by bike at a much more affordable price than renting a car. For more distant sites it is sometimes a better option to book a tour or private transportation and save the stress of driving several hours… hours that you can use to rest or take care of other things.
