December in the Riviera Maya: The Mexican Experience!

After a busy and crazy year, it’s time to relax… and what could be better than enjoying the paradisiacal destinations of the Riviera Maya.

As you know, our mission is to save you time, but we’re also very passionate about connecting you with Mexico. Here are 4 Tips that will make you have an incredible December in the Riviera Maya!

   1) Join Local Events

Posadas are a Mexican tradition that starts 9 days before Christmas (December 16th). Families make a “pilgrimage” and visit 9 houses -one per day- until they find the house where they will be given a place (“posada”). The hosts offer drinks, traditional Christmas dishes and at the end, the traditional seven-cornered piñata is broken.

Are you in Playa del Carmen? Check out this public event!

If you want a magical experience, then this is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the “Posadas” at Xcaret Park! Remember that you can get tickets through our new All-Inclusive platform.

  2) Taste the Christmas Dishes

You know that Mexico is famous for its gastronomy, and no, we’re not only referring to our delicious tacos! During  Christmas season, you can savor some traditional dishes like tamales (cornmeal mixed with a variety of fillings -such as chicken, beef or vegetables- steam cooked in corn husks), bacalao (dried salted codfish), and of course the great Mexican Christmas Ponche (fruit punch, with or without alcohol) 🤤

Give it a try! You can order any of these dishes through our website!

3) Spend some quality time with your Family and Friends

In Mexico we celebrate on Christmas Eve. On the 24th the family gets together for a delicious traditional dinner, a few toasts and dancing until the early hours of Christmas morning. We also exchange gifts, but not as much as in other parts of the world. The important thing is to be with our loved ones, right?

If you still need a few Christmas presents for your friends and family, but you don’t have time to go searching for themRemember that we can be your Santa 🎅🏻 Write us a letter now Click here to create your order!

4) Celebrate New Year’s Eve – Caribbean Style!

The Riviera Maya is definitely one of THE BEST places to say goodbye to 2021 and hello to 2022. Why? Because no matter if you live here or are traveling alone, as a couple or with your family, you’re guaranteed to have a great time.

If you like to party while experiencing an all-inclusive Las Vegas-style show, go to Coco Bongo Playa del Carmen or Cancun. La Quinta Avenida (Playa del Carmen) becomes a special place where every spot has something different to offer, and Zamna Tulum has an alternative proposal with an electronic event that attracts people from all over the world ready to welcome the year dancing.

On the other hand, if you want to receive 2022 in a more relaxed and intimate way, you can book a table in Las Ventanas, Royal Hideaway’s elegant fine dining restaurant. Get your reservation here!
